The New Epilogue: What Happens After Black Flag

Resynced adds a playable epilogue after the main story. Here's when it unlocks, how long it is, and what to expect — no major spoilers.

The biggest single addition in Resynced is a fully playable epilogue extending Edward Kenway's story beyond the original ending. This is a spoiler-light guide to navigating it.

When It Unlocks

Immediately after completing Sequence 12 and the credits. You'll see a "New Content Available" notification. You can skip credits (hold B/Circle) and the epilogue starts at Great Inagua.

The epilogue shifts from the Caribbean to a setting long-time AC fans will recognize immediately.

Length and Structure

Roughly 45-60 minutes of gameplay plus ~15 minutes of cutscenes. It's not a full sequence, but it provides closure to several threads the original left hanging.

What It Covers (No Major Spoilers)

  • Edward's life after piracy. Set several years post-story. Edward returns to England but finds his past hasn't stayed in the Caribbean.
  • Jennifer Scott. Edward's daughter — key to the Kenway saga leading into AC III — appears as a child.
  • Familiar faces return for brief, meaningful moments.
  • One last pirate mission. A naval encounter and a land infiltration serve as gameplay bookends. They're not hard (the epilogue is story-focused), but you get to sail the Jackdaw one more time.
  • The theater scene. Anyone who knows AC lore knows how Edward's story ends. The final London scene is heartfelt and quietly devastating.
The epilogue shows Edward in a very different context than the pirate you've been playing for 40+ hours.

Gameplay Prep

You don't need to prepare anything. Edward keeps all gear and the Jackdaw is available for the naval sequence. No collectibles or missable achievements are tied to epilogue content.

Several scenes explore Edward as a father, adding a dimension the original never had space for.

Recommendation: After finishing Sequence 12, take a break. Walk away for a day. The epilogue lands better emotionally if you give the original ending room to breathe.

Is It Good?

It's well-written, well-acted, and doesn't overstay its welcome. It gives Edward the send-off many fans felt the original lacked — the 2013 game ended rather abruptly after the Observatory. It also bridges to the wider Kenway saga without feeling like forced setup for other games.

One last voyage. Longtime fans should keep a tissue handy for the final moments.

If you've invested 30+ hours in Edward's journey, the epilogue is worth every minute. Pour a drink, set sail one more time, and say goodbye properly.
