One of Resynced's most praised additions is expanded story content for Edward Thatch, a.k.a. Blackbeard. In the original he had a memorable but brief arc. The remake adds new scenes, missions, and character moments that deepen his relationship with Edward Kenway and give his story much more emotional weight.
What's New
- Extended Nassau sequences in Sequence 4-5. More tavern scenes with Thatch exploring the "Republic of Pirates" ideal — adds context to why Nassau mattered to him.
- The Charlestown blockade mission. A new naval encounter where Blackbeard blockades the port of Charlestown (based on real 1718 history). You fight alongside Thatch in a multi-ship battle.
- Additional dialogue aboard Queen Anne's Revenge. After recruiting Blackbeard's crew, you can sail alongside him for optional sea conversations about his past, philosophy, and growing disillusionment with piracy.
- Extended lead-up to Ocracoke. The lead-up to Blackbeard's death has a quiet, surprisingly human moment between the two Edwards. It hits harder with the new build-up.
Is the New Content Missable?
All major Blackbeard scenes are woven into main story sequences — you'll see them by playing the campaign naturally. There are also optional cutscenes if you sail alongside the Queen Anne's Revenge between certain sequences (look for Thatch's ship sailing near Nassau in Sequence 6); sail alongside to trigger dialogue.
If you were a Blackbeard fan in the original, Resynced delivers a more complete portrait — larger-than-life, yes, but with added moments of vulnerability and weariness that make his fate at Ocracoke hit harder.
