The diving bell unlocks in Sequence 6 (story-mandated). Shipwreck sites (anchor icon on map) contain treasure, animus fragments, and elite upgrade blueprints — the only way to max out certain Jackdaw systems.
How Diving Works
- Sail to a wreck site; Edward descends in the bell.
- Unlimited oxygen near the bell, but air depletes when exploring away.
- Refill at air pockets (shimmering bubble columns), barrels, or the bell.
- Movement is slow on the sea floor; faster in cave corridors near the ceiling.

Dangers Underwater
Sharks
The main threat. Sharks patrol open water around wrecks and attack if you're exposed. You can't fight them. Stay hidden in seaweed, behind rocks, or inside wreckage when one is near. A yellow/red outline around your screen shows shark awareness — red means dive for cover. Wait for it to swim past before moving.

Strong Currents
Sweep Edward away. Fighting them uses air fast. Look for rock formations that create eddies — safe paths through or around the current.
Eels and Jellyfish
Touching them deals damage and stuns. They're stationary or predictable — just avoid the obvious glowing creatures.
Air Management
Always know the nearest air source. If air runs low, abandon the treasure and reach a pocket. Drowning returns you to the bell with all un-saved treasure lost.

Treasure Types
- Regular chests: Scattered on sea floor and in wrecks. Contain R, metal, wood.
- Elite blueprints: The prize. One per wreck. Required for max Jackdaw.
- Animus fragments: Collectible. Some tricky ones require seaweed tunnel routes.

Pro Tips
- Have full health before diving. Shark attacks on the bell don't directly damage you, but a pre-damaged Edward + a random collision can kill.
- Don't rush. Underwater sections are designed for slow exploration with frequent seaweed stops.
- Seaweed is your highway. Almost every wreck has a seaweed path from the bell to main treasure areas.
