Assassination Contracts: Stealth Strategies

Complete every contract with the stealth bonus. Target types, bonus tips, and how to maximize rewards from pigeon coop missions.

Assassination contracts are short, focused missions picked up from pigeon coops (pigeon/letter icon) in settlements. They pay well, often give rare materials, and every completed contract slightly reduces your notoriety.

Contract Types

Standard Assassination

Target is a named individual in a restricted area. Kill them and escape. Stealth bonus (killing the target without entering open combat) pays extra R.

Public Execution / Rescue

A pirate ally is about to be hanged or shot. Kill the executioner(s) before the countdown ends. Timed — move fast. A well-aimed pistol shot from range is often safest.

Chain Assassination

Multiple targets to kill in quick succession or within a time limit. Harder but pays premium rewards.

Naval Assassination

The target is aboard a ship at sea. Disable the ship (without sinking it), board, and kill the target (usually a high-ranking officer).

Contracts typically take place in plantations, forts, and restricted city zones. Approach exactly as you would any stealth infiltration.

Stealth Bonus — Every Time

  1. Shoot alarm bells first. Always.
  2. Berserk darts on guards near the target. Let them create chaos for you.
  3. Air assassination is safest. Find a rooftop, tree branch, or beam above the patrol path and wait.
  4. Whistle-lure isolated guards in your path to the target.
  5. Don't use pistols for the kill. Even with stealth mechanics, gunshot audio draws attention. Use the hidden blade.
Corner assassinations from cover are completely silent and leave the body hidden from other guards' line of sight.

Plantation contracts have wide open sugarcane fields perfect for the whistle-lure loop. Work your way from the outside in.

Hire dancing groups and drunk pirates for cover. In cities, hire dancer groups to follow you — you can walk right past guards inside the blending circle. Useful for Havana and Kingston contracts.
Chain assassinations (unlocked with the second hidden blade) let you kill two guards in rapid succession without breaking stealth — perfect for paired patrols.

Rewards

Payouts scale with difficulty: 800-1200R for easy contracts, up to 2500R for chain/naval. Many also give metal, wood, or cloth. Completing all contracts in a region unlocks a bonus payout and a special weapon upgrade.
